“Surefire” by John Legend

legend-bwKing of Soul John Legend celebrates borderless love with gritty video and heaviosity for new single “Surefire”, a sophomore offering appearing in “Darkness and Light” album which centers on interracial love struggling against the the tale of deportation and racial discrimination.

Directed by Cole Wiley, the new video gets understandably serious with Legend’s breathy quaver moaning atop theatrically compelling narrative and politically dense storyline of star-crossed lovers Roberto and Jamila, the video’s protagonists.

“I may not know a lot of things, but I know that we’re surefire,” sings Legend in a his new comp of cuts that pack a punch on anti-immigrant rhetorics giving voice to those who were victims of prejudice.
