“Psycho” by Post Malone ft. Ty Dolla $ign
For Austin Richard Post, or better known as Post Malone, everything comes around. After the success of his chart-topping “White Iverson” and 21 Savage-assisted “Rockstar”, the American rapper continues his gruff spitting thug-life boast atop relentless thwacking beats in “Psycho”, another awesome slice from the artist’s listenable and groundbreaking album “Beerbongs & Bentleys”.
Post Malone’s rise to musicdom has been cited as unpredictable and accidental for so many reasons labelling him as one hit wonder in the cesspool of wannabe rappers. But the smooth-voiced rapper continues to fly his freak flag with his latest rap proceeding, “Psycho” reaching skyhigh in the charts and on pre-beer playlists.
Well, for one, “Psycho” is pretty laid-down capitalizing on Malone’s watery synths and catchy hooks split into fever-dream of chittering beats and samples playing around successful hip-hop templates. Mmm… How about “She bad like Michael” for a start? But heck, Post Malone rises to the occasion with soporific melodies gumming up the brain and sticking to it like a bug. Add Ty Dolla $ign’s contribution which has made the song more sedative, then you got the soup of the day.
“Psycho” may be apt for passive listening and lacks cerebral wit that he is known but surely it does keep up with zany tales and gritty narratives of psychosis.
